The Unit is located in the city centre offering direct access not only to the main retail streets (Tsimiski & Mitropoleos) for shopping and dining, but also to Thessaloniki’s most popular sightseeing spots.
Ideal for a walk by enjoying the light and the open view to the sea of the Thermaikos Gulf and the sky. Towards the waterfront you will meet the imposing bronze statue of Alexander the Great, the Macedonian commander located a few meters away from another city landmark, the White Tower, the most recognizable spot in Thessaloniki. With its distinctive cylindrical shape, its six storeys and its memory-charged history, it has become the city’s trademark. By visiting it you will enjoy a unique journey through time that adds to the visual enjoyment from the viewing platform at the top of the Tower.
Within three minutes walking distance, there is Thessaloniki’s ground zero as it is the beating heart of city. Facilitated with shops, restaurants, bars and hotels, it is the perfect place to feel the pace of life in this city. Surrounded by interesting buildings with beautiful architecture and stretching down to the waterfront, the square opens up to reveal spectacular views of the Thermaikos Gulf.
The walled city and its monuments can reasonably be called an open multi-cultural Museum.The Arch of Galerius (Kamara) is perhaps the most distinctive and interesting roman architecture of Thessaloniki along with the neighboring Rutunda, (Unesco) which is quite popular for its unique mosaic. Being two of the most recognizable and characteristic monuments of the city, these spots arecity’s landmarks. After visiting the monuments, you can relax in one of the several café, located around it.
Agios Dimitrios is a wonderful temple full of Byzantine treasures. Arguably considered the most important church of Thessaloniki, since it is devoted to the patron Saint of the city, with a long and rich history that pretty much depicts some of the city's most important events that shaped its identity. Agia Sophia is also an architectural masterpiece in the center of Thessaloniki with an imposing architecture, beautiful wall paintings and elaborate mosaics.
Only few steps from the unit, Ladadika is a place that should not be missed by anyone who visits Thessaloniki even for a few hours. Walking on the paved streets you will meet old colorful buildings of 18th century. Many beautiful restaurants, pubs and nightclubs are located in this part of the city as it is a quite popular travel attraction with a unique character thatcombines harmonically the city’s past and present.
